Wethersfield Little League has two summer baseball programs available for boys:
(1) District All Starsand
(2)Summer Recreational Baseball.
Players may participate in one program or the other, not both. The summer seasons will begin soon after the regular season ends. There will be additional fees for Summer Baseball.
District All Stars
District All Stars represent the Wethersfield Little League in competitive play against other towns and Little League districts. Six All Star teams are formed: two teams of age 9-10 All Stars, two teams of age 11 All Stars, and two teams of age 12 All Stars
Players are selected for the age11-12 All Star teams by the managers and coaches
Players are selected for the two 9-10 All-Star teams by tryout at the end of the regular season. All AAA and Majors players ages 9-10 who participated in the regular season are eligible to tryout.
Attending the tryout is mandatory in order to be considered for the 9-10 All Star team.
The tryout for the 9-10 All Stars will be held at Mill Woods Lighted Stadium on Sunday, June 6:
Players with last name beginning with A-M arrive by 1:30p.m.
Players with last name beginning with N-Z arrive by 2:30p.m.
Candidates should bring a completed Summer Registration Form to the Tryout
Participation on All Star teams is a privilege, requiring players to be available on certain dates from roughly June 15 until August 1. Players will need to submit a calendar for that time period showing dates on which they are unavailable to practice or play.
Summer Registration Forms and commitment calendars also are available on the website: www.wethersfieldlittleleague.org
Summer Recreational Baseball
Wethersfield Little League also usually has a summer recreational program for boys 8-12 years of age. Eight year olds are not eligible for District All Stars but may play in the recreational program.
Last year, we fielded five teams: three for ages 8-10, two for ages 11-12. The number of teams this year will be determined by the number of players, coaches and managers who volunteer to participate. The recreational teams, last year dubbed the Red, Blue and Green Eagles, may participate in local tournaments and play against other towns such as Rocky Hill, Newington, Glastonbury, etc. Last year, each recreational team managed to play 9-12 games through the month of July.
Summer Registration Forms also are available on the website: www.wethersfieldlittleleague.org
